Building Modern Farmhouse in Rural South Africa - Slab Shuttering and In Memoriam. In this video, steel and shuttering materials arrives on site to create platform for building the slab. We haver over 220 square meters or 2368 square feet of floors to cover. We had to buy more than 5000 pieces of rebar for the slab. We are building a house, a custom home in rural South Africa. Our slab is made of concrete. In order to build a concrete slab, you need to do shuttering, then lay steel or what is known as reinforcement bars or rebar then pour concrete. We used 30 MPA concrete I also pay tribute to my best friend, KIm, who passed away from cancer. Losing a best friend isn't easy especially when you are miles away. Our homestead is sitting on 9 acres of land . I am building a custom modern farmhouse home in South Africa. Our modern farm house had 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, family room, formal living room, dining area, pantry, mudroom, laundry room, a loft and now a pool. It is a double storey. I decided to add a pool because we had to build a wall around the pool. We are building a custom dream home in South Africa, eastern cape. The pool was a result of needing to build a wall. In this travel vlog we visited Soweto, a township near Johannesburg, South Africa. We arrived in Johannesburg fresh from a safari. We stayed in the Oasis Hotel in Rivonia. We dropped our bags and our way to Soweto. We toured the Mandela House, and saw Tutu House in Vilakazi street. Soweto features greatly in the history of South Africa. Oasis Hotel (http://oasis.sa.com/) is a boutique hotel in Rivonia, South Africa. It is run by a family and is absolutely beautiful. It is tastily decorated in antiques. Each of us had our own rooms and my kids shared. We had a tour of the Apartheid Museum and walked around Vilakazi Street where we did some shopping. Vilakazi Street restaurants are actually very nice. We walked passed Sakhumuzi restaurants where it was very busy. Visit Hermanus, South Africa | Eat, Sleep, Love In Hermanus | Travel | Family Vlog This is our Hermanus vlog! OMG, first day in Hermanus, western cape, South Africa went very beautifully. Weather was more than perfect. It felt so good on my skin. We had ocean front/beach front dining. The food was absolutely delicious. The food was some of the best foods we've had so far in Hermanus or in South Africa at that point. We enjoyed the sights and sounds of Hermanus. Though we we ate, slept and did some sight seeing, we also did some real estate shopping. We would love to have a place here. Hermanus is a town about 1.5 hour drive east of Cape Town, South Africa. It is known for whale watching. It has a small town feel with big city amenities. I absolutely loved it there. I would love to buy a house in Hermanus. The water front area is nicely developed, it still has a small town feel to it. It is worth a visit when you visit South Africa. Hermanus, though it is popular, it is still not as popular as Cape Town, so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
